Proudly SA has launched the fifth edition of its Local Fashion Police campaign, this year teaming up with renowned fashion house Khosi Nkosi to celebrate and reward local fashion lovers. The campaign calls on South Africans to show off their locally made fashion pieces and stand a chance to win R50 000 worth of clothing from one of the country’s top designers, along with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to walk the runway in a custom outfit at the campaign’s grand finale.

To enter, participants must post a photo or video of themselves wearing their favourite locally designed and manufactured item. They must also prove that the garment is made in South Africa and use the hashtags #LocalFashionPolice2025, #FashionableBanking and #LovedHereMadeHere. Entries must tag Proudly SA and African Bank in order to qualify.

This year’s judging panel includes some of South Africa’s most respected names in fashion. These include Tshepo Mohlala of Tshepo Jeans, Asanda Madyibi, Nobukhosi “Khosi” Mukwevho and Thabo Mukwevho of Khosi Nkosi, Londeka Buthelezi Ndaba of Malondie, Stephen Van Eeden, Thandazani Nofingxana of Abantu in Africa, and Prince and Warren Meko, founders of Madonsela. Each judge will select one winner, who will receive R50 000 worth of clothing from their brand. The designer will also benefit directly from the prize, helping to grow their business.

The campaign is not just about fashion but also about supporting local industries and encouraging South Africans to make conscious buying decisions. Proudly SA’s Chief Marketing Officer, Happy MaKhumalo Ngidi, says the initiative aims to promote locally made garments while encouraging consumers to spend their money where it matters. African Bank’s CMO, Sbusiso Kumalo, echoed this, highlighting the importance of supporting small businesses and their role in job creation and economic growth.

This year’s campaign was launched in style aboard the Blue Train, a symbol of South African luxury and heritage. It marked a powerful start to a campaign that is not only stylish but meaningful. Through fashion, Proudly SA and its partners are highlighting that wearing local is more than a style choice, it’s about pride, impact, and identity
