Style Defined: Top 30 Finalists Take Centre Stage in Local Fashion Police Showdown

South Africa’s premier fashion royalty recently traded their measuring tapes, fabric shears, and pins for scorecards, tackling the formidable challenge of sifting through hundreds of nationwide entries to select the Top 30 finalists for this year’s Local Fashion Police (LFP) competition.
Organised by Proudly South African, the annual Local Fashion Police initiative stands as a vibrant celebration of local design, craftsmanship, and creative identity. The initiative traces its remarkable evolution from a popular social media campaign into a powerhouse platform that has successfully propelled South African fashion from the margins directly into the mainstream.

Sifting through an exceptional pool of entries fell to an esteemed panel of industry visionaries: Mpumelelo “Lele” Dhlamini of Ezokhetho, Thabo Makhetha-Kwinana of Thabo Makhetha, Anel Botha, and Rivaldo Louw of By Waldo. Each adjudicator is set to mentor finalists and craft a bespoke creation valued at R50 000, giving winners the chance to strut the runway in exclusive designer couture during the upcoming grand finale.
“Excitement is filling the air as we cross this important milestone in the Local Fashion Police journey,” shared Eustace Mashimbye, CEO of Proudly South African. “The overwhelming response and exceptional standard of entries received are a testament to the depth of talent, creativity, and innovation within South Africa’s fashion industry. Selecting just 30 finalists was no easy task... We look forward to seeing the finalists take centre stage at the grand finale, where our designers will showcase world-class craftsmanship.”

The Top 30 lineup features a dynamic mix of trendsetters and creative talents, including Warren Masemola, Mbaliyezwe Atelier, Lara Louise Designs, Revaska Govender, Adhil Ramnath, Semakaleng Moeketsi, and Sara Urbaniak, alongside notable style influencers like qondile_qondile and b_inwanderland.
Honouring the movement’s growth, former judges and fashion luminaries will also attend and showcase at the grand finale. The event promises an unforgettable night uniting fashion enthusiasts, industry leaders, and local production advocates to toast the brilliant future of South African style.
