The Pulse of Joburg’s Street Style: Braam Fashion Week AW26

Fashion runway in a bright hall, models in layered outfits walk past a seated audience and an EXIT sign.

In the beating heart of Johannesburg, where youth culture dictates the rhythm of the city, street fashion is more than a trend it is a language.

Over the weekend, the Bannister Hotel in Braamfontein hosted Braam Fashion Week’s Autumn/Winter 2026 (AW26) showcase, proving once again why it stands as South Africa’s runway dedicated exclusively to emerging talent.

This season’s runway was anchored in the theme "Luh Southa" a vibrant love letter to South African identity. Young local designers redefined heritage on the runway, pulling inspiration from national symbols, street culture, and the bold colors of our flag.

The lineup brought raw, unfiltered creative force through show-stopping collections from Coachella Designs, JOAT, Eta by Eta, Creative Galaxy, Zee_Visuals, Hip Hop Cargo, Vukosi, and No Plan-etB.

Each brand merged contemporary streetwear with deep cultural storytelling, proving that local style is both proudly rooted and globally relevant.

Braam Fashion Week continues to bridge the gap between undiscovered talent and commercial opportunity, directly connecting raw models and visionary designers with buyers, stylists, and industry insiders. "Luh Southa" was far more than a seasonal concept, it served as an unapologetic declaration of self-expression for a generation no longer waiting for permission to define itself.

With an exclusive crowd of just 250 guests in attendance, the intimate event gave Mzansi’s fashion lovers a front-row view into the future of our style identity. The weekend proved that Braamfontein's creative energy is set to shape the future of urban culture across the continent.
